Drones, remote weapons and other robots

General

The summary of the discussions following the recent Ditchley conference “Drones, remote weapons and other robots: the military, commercial, legal and ethical implications” is now available.

It was clear that, in the commercial sphere, the main issues are safety, privacy and the impact on the economy/labour; in the military/security spheres, urgent planning is required from rule-of-law governments to form regulatory frameworks that are effective in keeping their nations safe while remaining palatable to their citizens.

A number of prescriptions are recorded in the summary of the discussion, which is available to read in full here.
