Gareth Gwilt
Head of Operations
Gareth has spent nearly twenty years working within some of Britain’s most significant historic houses, holding a variety of operational roles across the National Trust, English Heritage, and more recently Blenheim Palace. His experience spans conservation and maintenance management, visitor operations, and the planning and delivery of both public and private events. Throughout, he has been guided by a fascination with the quiet systems, traditions, and thoughtful structures that have long enabled great estates to run with effortless grace.
At Ditchley, Gareth leads the operational teams, overseeing the House and Event staff alongside the Chefs, Butlers, and waiting team. He is committed to honouring the timeless rhythms of a country house while shaping them for a modern world—bringing heritage forward with purpose, practicality, and a touch of elegance, all without the need for a ruff.
Away from work, Gareth is a keen (if decidedly amateur) gardener. He treasures time spent with his two daughters and his long‑suffering wife..
