Ditchley Deutschland

While Ditchley has long maintained networks in Germany and across continental Europe, it formally launched the Ditchley Deutschland initiative in 2023 with a dedicated staff member and chaired by Norbert Röttgen, Member of the German Bundestag. The initiative seeks to further widen the Foundation’s contribution to the renewal of democratic societies, states, and alliances, particularly at a time when Germany is increasingly expected to take a stronger leadership role in Europe and on the world stage. 

Ditchley Deutschland supports German participation in the wider Ditchley programme and convenes events in Germany using Ditchley’s conversational methodology and format to create impactful dialogue. The primary objective is to bring together representatives from government, politics, business, academia, media, and civil society to collaborate on complex challenges facing Germany and its international partners, including the changing security environment in Europe, rapid technology innovation and Europe’s declining competitiveness, the energy transition, and the fragmentation of our democratic societies. These discussions take place primarily at Ditchley Park, but also in Berlin or other parts of Germany. Additionally, a key feature of the initiative includes side events at major gatherings like the Munich Security Conference or the Warsaw Security Forum.
