A walk around the lake with… Malcolm Turnbull
US-China rivalry, political infighting, and a role for middle powers
In episode #5 of our video interview series, The Ditchley Foundation’s director, James Arroyo, walks around the lake and talks with Malcolm Turnbull, Australia’s 29th prime minster (2015-2018). Malcom has also been a successful journalist, investment banker and lawyer, most notable for his successful defence of former MI5 agent Peter Wright against the British Government in the “Spycatcher” trial. They discussed what it’s like being in the room with global leaders, political rivalries both domestic and international, the US-China relationship, and the role of middle powers, among other things.
