Your Stay at Ditchley
We are privileged to have Ditchley Park as the home of the Ditchley Foundation and to be able to put this wonderful house to good use, thanks to the generosity of Sir David Wills, who established the Foundation in 1958.
Accommodation
Located 15 miles from Oxford (find us here), Ditchley sits on 300 acres of beautiful countryside, which guests are free to explore (please collect a map from the Hall). At the end of the current programme of refurbishment (2025), Ditchley will have 23 guest rooms in the main house, all with an en-suite or dedicated bathroom. A further 7 bedrooms will be located in one wing of the house.
When making your travel plans, please bear in mind that accommodation at Ditchley is available for the two nights of the conference only. The premises are closed immediately following the end of the conference on Saturday.
As our location is rural, mobile telephone signals are not always reliable. A telephone is available for guests to make and receive telephone calls, in case of need.
Wifi
In order to limit distractions and encourage conversation outside the formal conference sessions, bedrooms are not equipped with televisions or telephones. Wi-fi access is available throughout the ground floor and first floor of the house
Attire
Attire at Ditchley conferences is informal (business casual) throughout, except for dinner on the second evening. It is a Ditchley tradition that dress for the formal dinner on the second evening is Black Tie. However, this is not at all a requirement - please be assured that you will feel entirely comfortable in a business suit or another form of evening attire, whether modern or traditional. Our focus is on celebrating the positive power of ideas. It is worth noting that, although Sir David Wills, the founder of the Ditchley Foundation, instigated the tradition of Black Tie dinners, he never wore Black Tie himself. He wanted to ensure that no one would feel uncomfortable if they had not come with formal clothes. That captures the Ditchley spirit.
Power
Please note that UK power sockets take plugs with three rectangular pins. The voltage is 230v. We recommend that you bring a suitable adapter if you plan to charge your electrical devices - and do remember to bring your device's charging cable! Bedrooms are equipped with a hairdryer.
