Strategic Technology Investors Council Meeting (STIC)

This event convened the first full meeting of the Strategic Technologies Investor Council, launched earlier in 2024. The meeting was a collaborative effort between the Ditchley Foundation, the Annenberg Trust at Sunnylands, and close coordination with the National Security Council, the Department of Defence, and British government counterparts. Participants included government representatives, venture capitalists and other investment professionals from both sides of the Atlantic. Discussion focussed on transatlantic cooperation on strategic technologies, deemed crucial to the success of democratic countries in geopolitical competition with China and other authoritarian challengers. The discussions explored how to strengthen the US/UK partnership to accelerate innovation in strategic technologies. A central idea was the establishment of a "blue list" of companies with vetted investors to ensure that funding for strategic and sensitive technologies comes from trustworthy sources, potentially involving investor certification and data sharing for informed decision-making.
