AI and work: How is the work of national security, science and technology being transformed by AI, and how can we use these insights to shape positive outcomes for the wider economy?
Many speculate on AI’s effects on the future of work. This Ditchley conference use insights from the impacts of AI that are already being felt in work on national security, defence, science and technology to draw broader conclusions and roadmap interventions that can make the AI transition productive and positive for democracies across the wider economy. We will gather a carefully curated group of leaders and experts from the private sector, government and science and civil society, aiming to build on last year’s conference on AI and national security. The emphasis will be on no regret actions we can take now to prepare for the increasing impact as AI matures. Our goal will be to consider, amongst other important questions, how effective human and machine teams can be built as AI moves from narrow assistance to delegated agency; how institutions must change to become fit for an AI-enabled world, and to nurture and value the right capabilities; and how to ensure a future where work still provides human purpose and flourishing.
