Member of parliament for Bristol North West
Darren Jones is the Labour Member of Parliament for Bristol North West and the Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury. Prior to joining the Shadow Cabinet in September 2023, he elected as Chair of the House of Commons Business and Trade Select Commitee in May 2020. Darren also sat as a member of the Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy and the Liaison Committee, which scrutinises the work of the Prime Minister during that period of time.
Darren chairs the Interparliamentary Forum on Emerging Technologies (an international network of legislators engaged in the topic of artificial intelligence regulation) and was a founder member of the OECD’s AI Observatory.
Before his election to Parliament, Darren was an in house counsel at BT plc and specialised in data, privacy and consumer regulation in the energy and telecommunications sectors.
