Saturday 14 July 2018
We look forward to welcoming you to Ditchley Park on Saturday 15 July for the festival of ideas: Future Human. Please find a reminder of the details of the programme and practicalities below.
GETTING TO DITCHLEY:
Courtesy coach transport - Oxford
There will be courtesy coaches available between Oxford and Ditchley Park on Saturday morning. The meeting point is at 8.45 am at the corner of Mansfield Road and Jowett Walk. The coaches will then depart at 9.15 am for Ditchley, arriving at 10 am, depending on traffic conditions. To board the bus, you will have to show a printed version of your Eventbrite ticket confirmation.
The coaches will depart from Ditchley after the drinks reception at 8 pm and arrive back in Oxford for 8.45 pm.
Courtesy coach transport – Cambridge
There will be a courtesy coach available between Cambridge and Ditchley Park on Saturday morning. The meeting point is at 7 am at Parkers Piece, Cambridge. The coach will then depart at 7.30 am for Ditchley, arriving at 10 am, depending on traffic conditions. To board the bus, you will have to show a printed version of your Eventbrite ticket confirmation.
The coach will depart from Ditchley after the drinks reception at 8 pm and arrive back in Cambridge for 10.30 pm.
If you are travelling out from London we strongly suggest using the Chiltern Line service from Marylebone to Oxford Parkway in view of disruption on Great Western Services. The service leaving London at 8.06, arriving at Oxford Parkway at 9.05, will be met by Ditchley transport for those who have requested this shuttle service.
There will be return transport to the station in time to catch the 20.48 departure (arriving back in London at 21.47). A seat should be requested in advance.
Please let us know by 5.30pm on Thursday 12 July at the latest if you would like to be included in either of these arrangements for transport to and from Oxford Parkway station.
If you wish to arrive and depart on alternative services you will need to book taxis and I can provide you with details if necessary.
If you plan to drive, directions and a map of how to get to Ditchley Park can be found below. Cars may be parked on the verge opposite the main gates. This will be signposted.
Please let us know if you will be arriving by means other than the courtesy coach.
Please let us know by 5.30pm on Thursday 12 July if you have any dietary or other special requirements, not previously advised.
The programme for the Festival begins with coffee and welcome at 10am, with the speaker programme kicking off at 10.30am. The final plenary ends at 6pm, followed by a drinks reception through to 8pm.
A detailed programme will be available on the day.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING:
Please be aware that a photographer and film making team will be working throughout this event. The resulting images may be used by Ditchley, and Balliol and Christ Church Colleges, for news items in connection with the Festival and in future publicity materials, including websites and other digital platforms. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please make this known in advance of the event, or to any member of the Ditchley staff or the photographer and film maker on the day. For full details of the Balliol College’s image policy, please see www.balliol.ox.ac.uk/images.
There is no dress code, simply come as you wish in comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for walking in the grounds (uneven surfaces!) and maybe a spot of yoga!]
Please note that swimming is not permitted in the lake as blue green algae has been identified which is toxic to humans.
Smoking is restricted to the designated area (saloon terrace at the rear of the house). Smoking is not allowed beyond this in the meadow or Camp Rotunda where it represents a significant fire risk in view of the dry conditions.
If you have any queries or need to speak to someone on the day, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Ditchley by calling: 01608 677346 or emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org.
